FAQ
How do I choose the right spray tip?
Selecting the correct spray tip size depends primarily on the type of material you're spraying and the surface you're coating.
You can find tip charts on the technical resources page.
Understanding Spray Tip Numbers
Each spray tip is identified by a three- or four-digit number (e.g., 517 or 1221):
- Spray Angle: The first one or two digits represent the spray angle. For example, '5' equals 50°, '12' equals 120°.
- Large angles (619, 1221, 1223) are suitable for extensive surfaces such as exterior walls, facades, or ship hulls.
- Smaller angles (106, 208, 310, 515) are ideal for precise surfaces like doors, window frames, and gutters.
- Bore Size: The last two digits represent the bore size in inches:
- '17' (517 tip) = 0.017 inches (0.43 mm)
- '21' (1221 tip) = 0.021 inches (0.53 mm)
Generally, use larger bore sizes for high-viscosity materials and smaller bore sizes for low-viscosity materials.
Exitflex's Speedy 6 and Speedy 7 ranges offer over 715 spray tip sizes from 106 to 1241, providing exceptional versatility.Spray Tip Selection Guide
